Internos!!!

This is our awesome group of interns, Jess, Rachael, Danelle, Mark & Kelsey! They were great. They play such an important role here at the home. They play with the kids, tutor them, mentor them and lead Bible studies, some worked in the medical clinic as well. They cooked breakfast for us a couple times and participated in our devotionals. It was really great to have them here with us.

Doctor's Office

This is the Doctor's office. You can see the examination table beside her desk. That is about all the room she has to work with. The exam table doubles as an operating table. They do actual surgeries in her office. While we were here she and one of the interns removed a 10cm tumer from a woman's leg... all under local anesthesia!! Ouch!

The Dentist's office

This was one of the offices we painted in the clinic. and yes that is a 7up bottle he is using in some way with his instruments.

Teacher Appreciation

Val and Gaye worked hard to pull together a teacher appreciation time fo rthe teachers of the school here at the Children's Home. There are almost 50 teachers here that work very hard to teach the 450 students of the Christian School.

It was a great time and the teachers were very thankful to have the treat that Val & Gaye prepared for them.

Trimming

Brenda and Sara our other mother daughter team members are trimming back the bamboo on teh property.

Mark

One of the interns, Mark, was helping Larry pull cable.

Gaye & Val

It is great to have a couple mother-daughter team members. It is a new experience for our teams and I think it is wonderful to see them serve together!

Michelle, Ibet, Maria & Sara hanging out in the gym.

The first base Stripe!

They are all smiles now as we got the first stipe on the wall, but everyone has been working very hard! The Clinic has been a challenging project. The clinic has ten rooms which needed 2 coats of paint and then the base stripe in oil which of course had to be taped in.
The real challenge though comes in that it is a working clinic so we couldn't move out the furniture and we had to work around the doctors and patients.
This has caused us to work some extra hours to ensure we are not in the way on subsequent days. We've worked after dinner into the night on several occasions. For those of you who may have told Brenda and Gaye that we don't work hard we just play with the kids... you may want to lay low for a while.

The bench!

Jordan gets to hold the baby!

Jordan finally got to hold the baby. Although she isn't as cute as she used to be... and it looks as if she may have gained a little weight. By the way Jordan wanted me to share that the face he is making is not the strain but rather the fits of laughter he was suffering from.

The Ludwigs and Oswaldo

Here is Gaye and Val with their long time sponsor child Oswaldo.

Sara in front of the church

If you look closely you will see Sara standing in front of the church we went to on Sunday. It is called Mega Frater and is one of if not the largest church in Central America.

The Wagners & their extended familia

Brenda and Sara are sitting with Ibet and Jorgito. Ibet has been a sponsor child of the Wagner's for many years and Sara just started sponsoring Jorgito on this trip.

Gaye in the Garden

In the "Pool"

On Saturday the kids had the opportunity to go swimming in the "Pool". It is really the fountain in the garden but I think they had just as much fun as if they had been in a real pool.
